Book 1

Caerwin and the Roman Dog
An Erotic Historical Romance Set in 47 AD Britannia
By Lizzie Ashworth

Caerwin, a young Cornovii princess, watches from the rocky battlements of her tribe’s hillfort as Rome’s legions approach. Surely the valiant warriors of her tribe will fend off this swarm of foreign invaders. Disbelief slowly changes to horror as Romans overrun her home.

Captured and held in Roman camp, Caerwin faces Legate Marcellus Antistius who makes it clear she will submit to his demands. In spite of her resistance, he forces her pleasure. She begs to die.

Caught between his increasing infatuation with this Briton princess and the demands of his military command, Marcellus must come to terms with his past.
A fiery novel of domination and submission, this historical romance follows Caerwin as she refuses to accept her new reality. Life as she knew it is over. Forever. In its place stands a man she can never love.
Set in the year 47 AD as four legions of the Roman army invade Britannia and blaze a path of death and destruction, this novel portrays the plight of native Celts who must yield their lands and possessions to become vassals of Rome—or fight to the death.

Caerwin & Marculles

Caerwinll cover.jpe

Caerwin has lost her family, her home, and her freedom. Her one last hope? Escape. Across the River Severn and into the western hills, she finds familiar language, the sounds of a village stirring in the morning, dogs barking, the smell of lamb stew. While it lasts.
After two short months, he finds her again. Marcellus, the man who wants her heart. He and the Roman army march forward with swords flashing, butchering her countrymen and her only surviving friend Seisyll. Once again, she finds herself at his mercy.
Refusing to eat or even to wash the blood from her hands, Caerwin only wants to die. He won’t let her. Lash in hand, he forces her compliance.

But her life is destined for even greater change. At the end of his term as legion commander, Marcellus returns to Rome. He’s taking her with him even if she refuses to leave her beloved Britannia. A journey fraught with high seas, banditry, and the blighted company of a woman she despises brings Caerwin to the heart of the Roman Empire.

To the arms of a man she refuses to love.

A story of breathtaking scope, Caerwin & Marcellus takes the reader from the heart of Britannia and across Gaul to the thriving metropolis of Rome. Set in 50 AD, their struggle to come to terms with each other’s needs and expectations exposes the underbelly of Rome’s legal system, its dependence on slavery, and sexual secrets from Marcellus’ past. Can young Caerwin rise to the challenge of womanhood?

Lizzie Ashworth has been through career, marriage, kids, and even ran her own cafe, but writing has always been her secret love. Hidden away on a remote woodland hilltop in the Arkansas Ozarks, she accepts advice from her hound dog Weezie and her black cat Esmeralda. She has authored seven novels and several short stories which explore the intimate nuances of human relationships.

Liz writes erotic romance because her mind just naturally runs to the gutter. Also, it’s way past time to celebrate women’s sexual freedom and the evolution of our culture to finally bring sex out of the closet. What she find most exciting about this minute in the history of literature is that through indie publishing, the author can directly connect with her readers.

She enjoys cooking, gardening, and vacations at the Pacific coast. Sunrise and sunset provide her favorite moments, the magical twilight between two worlds when anything seems possible. Most of all, she loves snuggling up with a good book.

Rookie Mistake Excerpt © Dakota Madison 2016

There’s a knock on the door of my apartment. I don’t want to see anyone in my current state so I ignore it. Maybe if I’m lucky whoever it is will go away.
Apparently I’m not that lucky.
There’s more knocking.
I’ve lived in my tiny studio apartment for the last five years. I realize it’s not much, but it’s what I can afford on a public servant’s salary in very expensive Southern California. I prefer to think of my closet-sized dwelling as cozy. I work crazy hours so it’s not like I’m home that much anyway. I basically just need a place to crash and shower.
I’ve been crying for the last five hours and twenty-eight minutes. I’ve gone through six boxes of heavy two-ply tissues that are now scattered all over my living room floor.
The person at the door isn’t going to give up without a fight. He or she has decided to start pounding.
“Who…is…it?” I manage to chirp between heavy sobs.
“It’s your sister from another mister,” a female voice replies.
I don’t have to open the door to know it’s my best friend, Zoe. Her heavy Brooklyn accent definitely stands out on the West coast.
I grab a tissue and blow my nose. Then I toss it on the floor to join the rest of its former box mates, used then so recklessly discarded.
At that moment I realize those tissues are a metaphor for how I’m feeling…cast aside like unwanted trash.
I somehow manage to pick myself up from my daybed and stagger towards the door. I feel as lifeless as a zombie and I don’t think I look much better.
I know I shouldn’t glance at myself in the mirror. Seeing the horror show I’ve become will only make me feel worse. I’ve had a complete and total emotional breakdown.
It’s hard not to sneak a peek at myself when the mirror is hanging right next to the front door.
Ugh. I look a lot worse than I imagined. My long dark hair is askew. It looks like I’ve just walked through a wind tunnel. And my normally large dark eyes are red and swollen from crying.
“If you run away screaming I won’t be offended,” I warn Zoe as I open the door.
She looks me up and down. “I’m not going to lie. You’re a wreck.”
She pushes past me into my apartment. Unlike the disaster otherwise known as my hair, Zoe’s hair always looks perfect.
“What’s going on?” she asks. “You’re normally so uptight and guarded. It takes a lot for you to even crack a smile. You’ve obviously been crying. That’s not like you, tough girl.”
“I’m having an emotional crisis.”
“Clearly.” She plops down on my daybed. “Let me guess. Guy trouble.”
I sniffle. “Noah broke up with me. He told me he was tired of having his balls in my purse. I don’t even own a purse.”
She dismisses my concerns with a wave of her hand. “What does he know about balls? If anything he needs to grow a pair. You’re better off without him.”
“I thought he was the one.” I start sobbing again.
Zoe grabs a tissue from the nearly empty box and hands it to me. If I don’t implement some tissue conservation measures immediately I’ll soon be wiping my nose on a dishtowel.
“In the grand scheme of things you were with Noah for like a minute. Another minute and you’ll get over him. A minute after that and you’ll be with someone else.”
“We were together almost three months. I thought he loved me.”
“He just wanted a garage to park that long black limousine of his in every night.”
“He’s already found another garage to park in,” I snivel. “I guess she stays open all night. He never has to wait for his space.”
“I hope her garage door closes on him and whacks his limo in half. What a dick.”
“I’ve become a serial dumpee.”
“What does that mean?”
“Guys seem to be excited to go out with me at first, but after a month or two they split. I don’t think they can handle my job.”
“Why do you say that?”
“Because that’s exactly what they tell me. They can’t handle dating a police officer.”

Blitz: A Woman's Touch by Delaney Foster (June 20 - 24)

Title: A Woman's Touch
Series: A Woman's Touch #1
Author: Delaney Foster
Genre: Adult, Contemporary Romance
Published: March 8, 2015
What do you do when life hands you lemons?
You grab a bottle of vodka and make one hell of a martini.

I'd been through the fire and come out a diamond. I was the owner of my destiny. Yeah that worked for about a minute. Right up until the day Nathan Alexander sent his stupid letter to my office. Then it was like someone had opened up a bag of marbles in a mine field. The life I had worked so hard to rebuild quickly started falling to pieces. Everything that meant anything to me was being snatched from my hands. Bit by bit the storm came raging. All the weakness from my past came creeping back. And any glimpse of hope I had for my future, for my son's future, was blowing away with the wind.

That's when I decided to go to him for help. United States Senator, Nick Knight. He is completely unexpected. His mere presence commands attention. He is everything I never thought I'd have. Everything I never knew I even wanted. He calms my storm. He quiets my soul. Even without knowing my secrets, he comforts me. But he has secrets too. Demons he drinks away at night. Maybe we can save each other.

Suddenly I'm tired of planning. Tired of running. Ready to feel.
Then reality slaps me in the face. Hard. And I am reminded that feelings have consequences...

A Woman's Touch Excerpt © Delaney Foster 2015

One of our favorite places to eat as a family was PF Changs so naturally that’s where Hudson decided he wants to have lunch. Hudson is showing his dad and me how he can use chop sticks to eat his lo mein when I hear a familiar voice. My heart speeds up before I’m even able to look up to confirm who is standing there.
“Well this is a pleasant surprise.” Nick’s voice is calm and poised, even though the look in his eyes is anything but. He regards me first, then Cole. I see a slight twitch in Nick’s jaw as they make eye contact.
“Nick. How are you?” I sound like we’re meeting for the first time in years. Like he’s an old family friend. Instead of the man who made me quiver with pleasure…twice…less than twenty-four hours ago.
Nick smiles at me and his eyes twinkle. Like he knows I’m uncomfortable and he’s not planning on making this easy for me. He opens his mouth to speak but Hudson interrupts him. “Wanna see me eat with chop sticks?” he asks.
Nick looks down at him and continues smiling. “There’s no way you can eat with chop sticks! I can’t even eat with chop sticks."
Hudson accepts the challenge and digs in to his noodles and chicken. A few of them hang off his chin, but he sucks them in his mouth and smiles proudly as he chews.
“Well I am impressed,” Nick tells him.
I take the opportunity to divert his attention from Cole. “Nick, this is my son Hudson. Hudson, I’d like you to meet my friend Mr. Knight.” So not how I planned on this going down. I had never really planned on Nick meeting Hudson. But on the off chance that I thought it should ever happen, it definitely wasn’t supposed to be while I was at lunch with my ex-husband.
Hudson extends his hand to Nick. Such the little gentleman. “Nice to meet you Mr. Knight,” he says with the confidence of a grown man.
Nick arches his eyebrows and shoots me an amused glance as he reaches to shake Hudson’s hand. I respond with an amused smile of my own. “It’s nice to meet you too young man,” Nick says as his eyes note the band-aid. “Who’s your favorite ninja turtle?” he asks, nodding towards Hudson’s arm.
“Donatello,” Hudson replies. “He’s the blue one. Blue is my mom’s favorite color,” he explains as if he’s known Nick for months. He looks at the band-aid and sighs heavily. “We just went to the hospital. They had to take blood. Again. I hate when they do that. I don’t get why my mom is so worried. I don’t even feel sick,” he declares, palming his forehead the way I do when checking him for a fever.
I’d say Hudson has done a great job channeling Nick’s attention from his dad now. Way to over share, son. Leave it to kids.

Nick leans in close to my son and speaks lowly, directing his words specifically to Hudson. “You know, sometimes there’s a battle going on inside our bodies. And we don’t even know it. But we have to go to the doctor because they can see inside of us and make sure the good guys win the battle and our bodies feel better again. Your mom just worries because she loves you.” He ruffles the hair on the top of Hudson’s head and winks at him. Hudson gives an exaggerated wink back, along with a thumbs up. And there go my ovaries.
I am amazed at how he managed to control the conversation without knowing anything about the situation.
Nick stands up straight and looks at me with a knowing expression. I give him a feeble smile then focus on taking a sip of my drink. He cuts his eyes at Cole for a split second then back to me. There’s the jaw twitch again. “It seems we have a few things to,” he pauses to collect his composure, “discuss."
If he's talking about Hudson and the band-aid, a couple of orgasms and a pretty smile doesn't earn  him the right to something so painfully personal. And if he's talking about Cole, he's definitely got balls. Considering the shit that went down in his office with Blonde Bombshell.
He can’t just come over here, interrupt my lunch, buddy up to my child, then make little jealous accusations. Who does he think he is? So what if I’m on a date? Which I’m so not. Cole is my ex for a reason. But if I were, why should he care? And what is there to discuss? And now here I am, mad at him all over again, and wondering how one man can evoke so many emotions within me at once.

Dressed, I headed across to Enzo’s room. He opened the door for me and my mouth dropped open. He looked amazing in a white dress shirt and navy slacks. I’d never seen him in anything other than jeans, chambray or t-shirts. Instead of boots, he wore brown leather brogues.
He stared at me with an odd expression before saying, “You look good,” and turning away.
“Wow,” Gianna said, looking me over. “You scrub up well for a ranch hand.”
She wore a lovely emerald silk dress that was cut off across one shoulder and draped in an asymmetrical style beyond her knees. Strappy diamante sandals and her hair styled in a loose chignon completed the classy outfit.
“He sure does,” Enzo added, still giving me that look that made my heart thud faster.
“And there I was worried you wouldn’t have anything suitable to wear.” She beamed a smile at me, and then turned to her brother, holding up a maroon silk tie. “Come on, Enzo. The tie will go great with your suit. Tell him for me please, Alex.”
“No, I don’t need one. Alex isn’t wearing one and he looks great.” He turned away as if he hadn’t expected the words to come out as awestruck as they did.
My smile blossomed into a full grin. He really liked me in a suit then.
“I don’t need a tie. As you say I’m just the ranch hand.” I winked at Gianna. “But the tie will work well with your suit. Here let me help you.”
I walked over to Gianna and took the tie from her. “You look totally amazing,” I said and pressed a kiss to her cheek.
Then I strode over to where Enzo leaned against the table. “Trust me, you’ll look great.”
“Hmmm,” was all he said, but he let me come close enough to turn the collar of his shirt up.
I was conscious of Gianna behind us so I maintained a reasonable gap between us as I slid the silk around his neck. Each breath I took filled my lungs with his scent—man and spice—that transported me back to the night in the log cabin.
As I looped and knotted the tie, I couldn’t help brushing my fingers against his chin. His breath hitched. A smile played at the corner of my mouth. He’d shaved the skin smooth. I missed the bristles and wanted them rubbing against my skin.
“I can’t find my perfume in my purse,” Gianna called out from behind. "I’m going to pop back to my room and get it."
My body trembled, knowing I'd be alone with Enzo for a few minutes. I could feel the tension coming off his body too.
As soon as the door closed behind his sister, I couldn't keep away any longer. I leaned my body against his, making sure he felt the bulge of my erection on his thigh.
“I’ve missed you,” I whispered before brushing my lips on his.
He gripped my low pony tail, angled my head and devoured my mouth.
I groaned long and deep as I sank into him, loving his strength, loving the contact. My hands slid around his back as I gathered him into me so that we were as physically close as we could be with clothes on.
I don’t know what happens to me whenever this man touched me, but I felt as if this was where I should be.
A rattling noise at the door broke us apart when Enzo shoved me away.
